Lauryn Hill, Sydney

A most welcome surprise set dropped in to us this afternoon of Lauryn Hill performing live in Sydney.

Ever since winning her 5 Grammies, she became a bit of recluse having become disillusioned by the state of the music industry. After several tours being cancelled over the year, citing “poor health reasons”, she made a triumphant return to the spotlight Down Under this week.

As part of the Reggae-inspired Ragamuffin Festival where she was co-headlining with Shaggy, she gave a rare performance at the intimate Enmore Theatre yesterday evening. Looking chic and on top form and, most importantly still with her powerfully soulful voice she performed a range of material from her “Miseducation…” debut album as well as some Fugees hits.

She was AWESOME! A really lively, upbeat set and she would not stand still for a second. Hurry up and release a new album, music needs you!
