Andrew Davie / Gold Heart Assembly / Young Rebel Set

Kicking things off at this 5 night residency are Young Rebel Set, and they certainly make an impression! A soulful indie-folk seven piece from Stockton-on-Tees, these guys look destined for great things in 2010. The bunch of school friends have influences such as Dylan / Springsteen but also have a unique sound of their own and the crowd certainly lapped up there performance, nice one guys!
The band released their debut single ‘If I Was’ through their own label ‘Our Broadcast’ in August on limited edition 7” and download.

Up next is the excellent named Goldheart Assembly, London-based and only formed at the end of 2008, but already have enough accomplished folk-pop hooks to put most veteran bands to shame. The band met while working as zookeepers, and record their work in a disused steam train museum in Norfolk!

Last but no means least is Cherbourg’s finest Andrew Davie doing a solo stint, blissful folk sounds drift over the audience and we are enraptured by his performance. Cherbourg are considered to be one of the front runners of the new folk scene, alongside the likes of Noah and the Whale and Laura Marling, Andrew has gained a dedicated following with his Arcade Fire-esque musings. With his much-hyped debut album rumoured to be out next year, and a furious publishing battle taking place over his songs as we speak, this show was the one and only chance fans will get to catch Andrew this year!
